Guidelines on Posing

On the day you will be given guidelines on how to pose but here are some good tips.

Standing or sitting at an angle is generally a good starting position. It slims the figure and produces pleasing angles and shapes. Slightly changing the head angle improves and softens the image, giving variety.

Adding a tiny sideways tilt to the head is generally quite appealing; women tilting their heads forward and men tilting their heads backwards, but this is personal preference. So try your own variations and use the poses that you like.

Hands generally look more natural if they are holding or touching something rather than just hanging in mid-air.

Standing and stretching the body, as if the head was being pulled up by a string, naturally pulls the stomach in and improves the posture.
